Solar pump information
Before you ask about a
solar operated pump please be aware of the following
There are a variety of brands of solar pumps available
here are some facts
1) Solar pumps do need bright
sunlight to
actually work
2) When running, solar
cells should not be cooled down by the water they are pumping (This
reduces their efficiency, which in turn reduces the jet height)
3) Our solar pumps are for domestic fountains,
ponds and or waterfalls only,
NOT biological filters*, swimming pool filtration, bore holes,
lake aeration*, commercial
fountains, irrigation etc.
* Biological filters need to run 24 / 7
* Lakes / large ponds
require a lot of aeration which even our solar pumps can not provide
5) In particular with solar equipment
you get
what you pay for. Remember when comparing, it must be like for like,
our solar pump has an optional nozzle with not 5 or 10 or even 15 jets but
25 jets (maximum height 1m)
6) If you have a large
pond we really suggest you have a mains operated pump. if your pool is say
20 x 20 feet even 25 jets at 1m will look too small. Not only is it
cheaper you can have one central pump with a nozzle with 37 jets at a
height of 3m, (10 feet) but it is your choice.

8) Regretfully not available outside of the U.K.
Please note the
following
We only recommend solar pumps where
there is no option for having mains installed ie, remote
feature in a
field / nature reserve pond.
Why? Simple, we can supply a more powerful mains operated
pump for much less than a solar pump and solar panel (you do need both)
also a mains pump will run 24/7 if you want it to, no solar pump can do
that.
Although having an electricity supply installed may seem
expensive, it is a far better option in the long run within the UK
We also had a comment regarding solar operated road signs
and lights, so if they can do it why cant we?
The answer is simple, they are expensive, and also use
very little power, the light is often provided by LED's which use very
little power, so do not need big solar panels, solar pumps require
considerably more power than a few dozen LED's do.
You may also think a solar road sign with a few
LED's cant be expensive, if so you may wish to read
