Pipe Diameter

Pipe diameter for fountains and water features, Why should you always use the biggest diameter pipe possible?

When designing any fountain or feature you should always use the biggest pipe you can because the pump has a limited output, and a smaller pipe will add restrictions to the maximum output of your pump.

In other words if the pipe is too small the nozzle or feature will not work as it should.

Suppose your chosen nozzle has a 2 inch inlet, could you use two 1" pipes, after all 2 x 1 =2

This will work but it is not as efficient as using a 2inch pipe. Let us take the example below.

Although 2 x1 inch sounds the same you can see from the drawing above it isn't

The yellow area is the amount of unused space that a 2 inch pipe has that 2 x 1 inch pipes simply do not have
