How many pumps, for a fountain?

We sometimes get asked to to assist with a project where by the fountain has multiple jets, the project "falls through" because it was not realised that some fountains have more than 1 or 2 pumps. A pump, no matter what its size can only operate what it is connected to, it can't suddenly change the jet pattern (The height yes) so we thought we would show you a fountain with multiple pumps.

Yes it is one of our fountains, you can easily see it has 15 pumps (it actually has more)

This fountain is undergoing "renovation" but as you can see it has more than a few pumps. Yes, for the observant among you that is a "power hungry" sump pump sitting on its side. We did not supply these pumps

It is also true that some nozzles, spray rings in particular require more than one pump.
