If you wish to have a hidden sump below shows how it should be done.

The Overflow pipe (Item C) Is at the top because it acts as an overflow, it will take the pumped water from the top pool back to the bottom pool. It should also be a wider diameter than the riser pipe

A) Top pool

B) Bottom pool (hidden)

C) "Overflow"

D) Main riser pipe

E) Pump

F) Nozzle

G) Water level
